(Mis) Adventures

I hate the prairies today

I miss home. I miss trees, and rain, and thunderstorms. I miss “my people”; friends who get me at a different level then what seems capable here. I hate the flatness here, the dryness, the lack of greenery. No one told me that moving here was like time travelling backward and living in an old western film. Fellow ontario-ans be fore-warned: the fall does not look the same everywhere. I love the fall back home the rich reds, oranges and yellows are beautiful. Here, everything just dies and turns this pale yellow colour - awful.
So for those of you back home (there’s a few of you ottawa ppl) can you do me a favour? Today, can you be a little extra-appreciative of our city please? I know life drags us down sometimes and we forget how blessed we are and take things for granted. I know I did. So take a second to notice the beauty, the diversity, the old buildings, the canal, the good in ppl - anything, and pass my message along: I miss you Ottawa, and one day you’ll be my home again.
