i’ve heard all about skinny love
about make me size two and i’ll have some
self love
can you see my ribs love
two piece binkini in the smallest size

and i’ve heard all about the fat love
about bigger is better love
screw the fashion industry love
real women have curves love.
but you see,
that’s not love, because
it’s not a switch it’s a spectrum
there’s no such thing as perfection
we come in all shapes and sizes
and you should respect all of them.
it’s taken me a while to get to this point
as a size 18, 185 lbs, i’ve been to the place
where my self hate
tried to self medicate
so bitterness flowed from viens to lips
and turned into
a bad attitude.
hating the skinny
but secretly filled with envy
sneering at your little waist
but wondering how my meal would taste
a second time.

real love
is the swing in a womans hips
when she knows she looks good
that shade of lipstick reserved only for
fridays
having curves that don’t show up
in clothes
and buying clothes that show
all of your curves
looking yourself in the mirror
and going
damn, i’m sexy
it’s
loving your skin
whether toned and tanned
or rippled, stretched and striped

i am a tiger)
it’s seeing that everyone is beautiful
whether size two or twentytwo
whatever fruit society tries to force them into
we are all things of beauty
no matter what the tv tells you
they’re just trying to sell to you
objectify you
undermine you
and, to be true
i’ve believed them a time or two
but no more.
and i’m here to spread the word
that there is
no skinny love, no fat love
just self love.
so this is love

because i
am beautiful
